Here’s where you will decide which reading plan fits you best

1. Daily Reading
2. Read 5 days a week
3. Read in "chunks"
4. A very relaxed plan
5. Read with your kids

If you wish, jump straight to the reading list and Books of the Bible bookmark.

In the New Testament the topics are--The Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, The Letters and Prophecy.

You'll soon notice that we encourage you to read through the Bible chronologically. That means you'll be reading through the Bible "as it happened." You’ll have a better understanding of God’s plan by reading the story as it unfolds.

Stay in touch if you have any questions. Send us an email and we'll help you stay on track and complete your goal of READING THE BIBLE.

(Be sure to see our Reading Tips below)

READING PLANS
1. Daily Reading—7 days a week
If you’re a "daily" kind of person here’s the ideal plan for you. Just keep track of what "Day" you’re on by following these easy steps:
· Print out your very own
list of scripture references and our Books of the Bible bookmark.
· Choose the Day you’ll start. For you that is your "Week one, Day one"
· Fill in the blanks with the dates you read and you’ll stay on track.
· All you have to remember is what day you’re on.
· Plan to read about 15 minutes a day. That’s it, just 15 minutes a day. (Prayer time and Bible study are extra.)

It’s easy to miss a day. It’s amazing how fast you can get behind with the DAILY READING plan.

REMEDY: start over from where you are, read an extra chapter until you get caught up or add another 10 minutes each day to your reading. You’ll be back on track in no time!

2. Daily Reading—5 days a week
If you like a more relaxed schedule yourself this is a great plan for you.

· Print out your very own list of scripture references and our Books of the Bible bookmark.
· Notice that the sections are divided by weeks. You’ll be focusing on "weeks" rather than days. Your job is to complete 7 days reading in 5 days. So...
· Read a little extra every day. Maybe a little in the morning and a little in the evening. Your job is to finish the week with all seven selections read.
· Plan to read about 20 minutes a day. You’ll be surprised how quickly your 20 minutes will pass.

Getting behind is not as much of a problem with this reading plan because you have 2 FREE days in which to catch up each week.

3. Read a "book" or other chunk in one sitting
This is great plan for developing a broad understanding of the context for Biblical events. And, it works especially well when reading through your Bible “as it happened”.

· Print out your very own list of scripture references and our Books of the Bible bookmark.
· Plan out how large of chunk or which topics you wish to read at each sitting. For example, you may start with Creation, the life of Adam and the life of Noah. The next day might be the stories of Abraham. You will more likely follow heading as listed in your Bible, than chapters.
· You’ll notice that our chronological readings plan can jump around without completing a complete book of the Bible. Keep your scripture reference list handy to stay in sequence. Read as many “days” from the list as you have time for during each sitting.
· Set a goal! Decide on a target completion date. For example, one year or six months from today. Without a target completion date you only have a desire to read through your Bible. Setting this date turns this desire into your goal.
· Set aside special reading times that fit into your schedule. These may be regular weekly appointments or randomly chosen dates.
· When our reading reminders arrive in your in-box, enjoy the quotes and encouragement. Use them to remind of your goal and your special reading dates.

Plan on reading an hour or two at each sitting.

4. A very relaxed plan
Just read it! If you dislike being tied to a schedule but still want to read through your Bible you’ll love this plan. It is the most flexible of all. Your accountability is more to yourself than to a reading list. Here’s how it works...

· Print out your very own list of scripture references. Disregard days and weeks.
· Print out your Books of the Bible bookmark to track the chapters you read.
· Pick a goal date—any date—to complete your reading. Without a completion date this is no longer a reading PLAN it’s only a reading desire.
· Then do it! Just read it!! No whiney excuses allowed. Send us an email and let us know how you’re doing. We’ll cheer you on.
· That’s it! Fly, be free!!

CAUTION: don’t use the very relaxed nature of this plan as an excuse to not finish.

5. Read through the Bible with your kids.
Younger children love to have stories read to them. In America’s Revolutionary days children learned to read directly from the Bible. Today we have several versions-paraphrases or story books designed especially for the young reader. Chose this plan if you would like to read through the Bible with your children. Make it fun. And possibly include a reward to any child who reads through their own Bible.

· Select one of the special "Bible’s" designed for the younger reader from our resource page.
· Set aside a special time with your kids to read to them. As their reading skills develop ask them to read the day’s portion.
· In time we will have a guide for a variety of children’s "Bibles."

Need a Bible to read with your kids?
Select one of the following from our store.
* The Word and Song Bible for kids 10 and under.
* The Living Bible paraphrased by Ken Taylor especially for his children.
* The New International Bible, Children’s Edition Very readable. Great for adults

READING TIPS:
· If you get behind, don’t worry. Just modify your plan, set a new goal and keep going.

· Skimming works well, for passages that are repetitious, or hold little interest to you this time through. Remember, what you find boring as you read your Bible this time may really hold your interest next time through.

· Can’t remember what you read? Not to worry. Your plan is to READ through the Bible, not remember everything. Just keep going.

· Are you getting lost with so much to read? Go to our Bible Study page where you can read through your Bible in Five Minutes. Well, sort of. (o:

· Don’t like the translation you’re reading? Can’t understand the language? Check out our Resources page for a more readable version. Try the New Living Translation or a video.
